This map shows the visualization of traffic in Los Angeles Country during the period of Jan-Mar 2014.
Each sensor on the selected highway is represented by a circle. These sensors are highway loop-detectors which can detect information about passing vehicles. Parameters such as speed, volume (number of vehicles), occupancy (percentage of time the sensor is occupied) are averaged over 30s. Higher the circle's diameter, higher the volume. Blue represents low speed, and red represents high.
Please select a highway and a month at the upper left side and hit Search. Hovering over a sensor will show the occupancy pie chart for the freeway, and the volume and speed per sensor as mentioned above. You may change the layers clicking the layer option at the top right. Clicking at the center of each sensor updates the line graph at the bottom (Please zoom into a sensor and click at the center after the pop-up stabilizes). This graph shows the variation of speed on the first Monday and Friday of every month, from around 10 AM to 5 PM (depending on availability of data). If the speed is unavailable at the above time/dates, the graph is not shown.
